If you would like your children to experience Europe but the prices in many countries such as Germany, Austria, France… is too high, especially in the capital cities, perhaps think about Poland as a longer stay destination?  There is so much to see and do especially for older children who enjoy visiting castles and getting involved in outdoor pursuits – even if they say “boring” at the start!  I remember taking our younger son (then 15) to Indonesia…1st stop Jakarta to visit relatives working there.  Well, he wasn’t impressed (he wanted to stay home with 18 yr old brother) but once we had left Sydney his spirits lifted and now (at 30) he says that it was one of the best experiences of his life…we were even able to slip in some cultural pursuits in between fun activities.

Below is an overview of Poland from Lonely Planet for Kids…oops…will work out how to rotate on my next visit to iPad.
